Abstract
This thesis develops a methodology for constructing temporal activity profiles for air, maritime and road transport in Chile as inputs for pollutant emission modelling. For air and maritime transport, monthly, day-of-month, weekly and hourly profiles were generated for 2016–2025, mainly using the flight log published by Chile’s Civil Aeronautics Board and port visits identified by Global Fishing Watch. Results show differences across years, categories and locations. Comparisons with ADP and DIRECTEMAR support the monthly patterns examined. For road transport, monthly profiles were generated from the INE and DGC series available for 2016–2025, while weekly and hourly profiles were obtained through a TomTom pilot in July 2026. Observation sites were selected by combining information from INE and OpenStreetMap. The thesis provides profiles, processing programs and a coverage plan for further work. Extending road profiles to other periods and territories requires access to sufficient data and checks on their quality.
