Abstract
This thesis addresses a concrete management problem: the Innovation and Development (I&D) Division of Polpaico Soluciones was overseeing an active portfolio of innovation projects without an integrated system. Each Project Charter was built manually, the team spent 15 hours per week updating records scattered across disconnected files, and the Executive Committee lacked any tool that could provide an up-to-date view of the portfolio’s status. The diagnostic formalized these difficulties into six structural gaps, ranging from the duplication of information sources to the absence of any time-planning tools. The designed solution comprises an Excel workbook that centralizes data for all initiatives and serves as the single source of truth for the rest of the system. From there, a VBA macro automatically generates Project Charters in PowerPoint, standardizing a process that previously required several hours of manual work. A Power BI dashboard completes the system, translating that data into portfolio visualizations and a dynamic Gantt chart accessible to the Executive Committee—all built on tools the team already knew, at no additional cost. One of the most significant outcomes was organizational in nature. A weekly collective portfolio update routine was established, endorsed by the Division Manager and reinforced through automatic reminders. This shift transformed what had previously been a reactive, pressure-driven update process into a systematic habit that keeps data consistently current. Without this routine, the tools(...).
