Abstract
This work analyzes the spatial relationships—both physical and sensorial—that configure dining spaces with the goal of holding an event in La Conquista Plaza that would combine these characteristics to foster a social encounter. A critical observation methodology is adopted to recognize and compare these parameters based on architectural, cinematic, and everyday life references. Based on these inputs, a spatial intervention is designed for the community to test its effectiveness. In each location where the project was located, multiple encounters were fostered, directly influencing the level of intervention and the audience it attracts. This is evidenced by the number of meals delivered, the traces remaining in the following days, and the participant's opinions regarding the intervened space. This corroborates that the spaces where we eat possess characteristics that encourage human encounter and interaction. However, this interaction does not depend solely on offering physical support or food, but on a complex composition of spatial conditions that respond to intimacy—such as closeness—and bodily comfort—such as cozy and warm—so that people are predisposed to be more emotionally open to the encounter.
