Abstract
El presente trabajo aborda la optimización del mantenimiento del puente grúa Kone en la Fundición Chagres de AngloAmerican, equipo crítico para las operaciones de fundición de cobre. Actualmente, el sistema enfrenta fallas recurrentes, particularmente en el subsistema de elevación, lo que genera altos costos correctivos, riesgos de seguridad y pérdida de confiabilidad operativa. Se propone implementar un plan de mantenimiento basado en el Mantenimiento Centrado en la Confiabilidad (RCM), que incluye actividades preventivas como inspecciones regulares y sustituciones programadas, además de mantenimiento correctivo optimizado. Estas acciones están soportadas por el uso de software especializado para planificar y gestionar las actividades de mantenimiento. Los resultados proyectados demuestran una reducción de costos anuales del 22.56% (USD 5,650) respecto a un escenario sin prevención, además de mejoras en la disponibilidad, confiabilidad y seguridad operativa. Este enfoque evidencia la importancia de una gestión proactiva en el mantenimiento de equipos críticos, contribuyendo a la sostenibilidad y eficiencia operativa de la industria.
This work addresses the optimization of maintenance of the Kone overhead crane at AngloAmerican's Chagres Smelter, critical equipment for copper smelting operations. Currently, the system faces recurring failures, particularly in the lifting subsystem, resulting in high corrective costs, safety risks and loss off operational reliability. It is proposed to implement a maintenance plan based on Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), which includes preventive activities such as regular inspections and scheduled replacements, as well as optimized corrective maintenance. These actions are supported by the use of specialized software to plan and manage maintenance activities. The projected results demonstrate an annual cost reduction of 22.56% (USD 5,650) compared to a scenario without prevention, in addition to improvements in availability, reliability and operational security. This approach demonstrates the importance of proactive management in the maintenance of critical equipment, contributing to the sustainability and operational efficiency of the industry.
