Thesis ANÁLISIS DE MADUREZ DE LA FUNCIÓN DE COMPRAS EN LA MEDIANA EMPRESA CHILENA, CÓMO Y POR QUÉ LLEVARLA A UN NIVEL ESTRATÉGICO(2017) Cáceres Castro, Elizabeth Alejandra; Departamento de Ingeniería Comercial; Osorio Zelada, Hugo AntonioChilean industry evolution and more demanding customers and consumers have shown to the companies the importance of focus their processes in order to achieve agility, innovation and to exceed the expectations of the customers and consumers, and at the same time the importance of cost control. Procurement department is a transversal area in which the mentioned concepts can be addressed at the same time, however only big companies have been able to implement a strategic approach on their purchases.Current study measured the maturity level of the procurement function in Chilean medium-sized companies through a field work that approached 24 companies and based on the maturity model adjusted and implemented by Ubeda Calsia in their study on 2014It was established that medium-sized companies have a low level of maturity, however companies are already spoken about a strategic approach of procurement and therefore is a desirable and sought state by professionals responsible for purchasing,It was also determined that studied companies should set up their maturity target on Sourcing (level 3). A simple action plan is proposed in order to allows companies in Passive level (level 1) to achieve this goal in four years, and achieving economic benefits from 12% of the affordable spend in the first year to 5% of affordable spend in year 4.Finally, a practical case was executed, wish have allowed to build the improvement plan that should be implemented by San Rafael Ingeniería. With this plan, company should achieve savings ranging from 58 million of chilean pesos in the first year and to stabilize in 25 million of chilean pesos in year 4,
