Abstract

The research focuses on improving the estimation of seismic forces in non-structural elements anchored to the building structure. A methodology based on evidence is proposed, using statistical analysis of the seismic response of buildings monitored during earthquakes and considering the physical properties of the building under study. The current Chilean standard, NCh 3357 Of. 2015, has significant limitations by assuming a linear relationship of acceleration with height and considering only the first mode of vibration. The proposed methodology achieves a better prediction of acceleration demands and dynamic amplification, with smaller errors and greater fidelity to the real response.
