Abstract
In the following research, the central objective was to identify and exhaustively analyze the financial factors that influence the growth of small and medium-sized manufacturing companies (SMEs) in Chile. In seeking to understand these dynamics, a solid and rigorous methodology was implemented. In the first instance, an evaluation matrix was used to determine the variables that presented significant correlations with the companies' total sales. Subsequently, a linear regression analysis was carried out, which was adjusted using a multicollinearity test, with the purpose of evaluating which variables had a relevant impact on the general performance of manufacturing companies. The research findings revealed an interesting perspective. Contrary to initial expectations, no financial factors are identified that will negatively affect the total sales of SME manufacturers, thus limiting their growth. However, variables emerged that proved to have a positive impact on the sales and, ultimately, the growth of these companies. These factors include the presence of female workers in the workforce, the quality and number of key suppliers, participation in the international market through exports, and the type of ownership of the company. These elements exerted a positive influence on sales, suggesting the importance of managing and promoting these aspects in the context of Chilean manufacturing SMEs. The research conclusions are of relevance to the manufacturing SME sector in Chile. The need to focus on the management and strengthening of specific factors that positively impact business performance is highlighted. Likewise, the importance of gender diversity in the workforce, effective management of key suppliers, international expansion and ownership structure are highlighted as key factors for the sustainable growth and development of SMEs. Furthermore, emphasis is placed on the distinction between the factors that affect the means of companies and those that specifically influence SMEs, which highlights the need for specialized management adapted to the particularities of this business segment to promote its growth and development in the Chilean context. In summary, this study provides valuable insights that can guide SME manufacturers in Chile towards sustainable growth and better performance in the competitive business environment.
