Abstract
The market of horses involves big quantities of money around the world. The value of this specimens depends of the type of horse and his historian, for example for race horses its value can reach US$ 20 millions. The transport of these specimens can be surface, maritime or by air, using this last choice for horses of high commercial or sentimental value for his owners. This kind of transportation requires a singular logistics because there is aviation’s regulation involved, like Live Animal Regulations and the ULD Technical Manual, besides of be working with a live animal that is not accustomed to the environment that exist in an airport, the noises and situations that can be trouble and produce not used reactions on him. That is the reason why is vital try to do the travel in the most calm and harmony possible way. To reach that, it is necessary to give the maxims possible comforts to the animal, but simultaneously to realize it in the most efficient way to the airline, trying to diminish the costs. It is here where the project of the construction disposable stalls for equine transportation’s by air brands. In the last five years, Chile has been exported 275 horses annually in average, and the add of exportations and importations for the same time reach the 418 horses. Diverse types of stalls exists, being his mayor differences the construction’s material, metal or wood, his maximum capacity, from one to four positions an his disposable conditions or not. His prices of rental range between US$ 500 and US$ 2.600 monthly. The disposable stalls are used in Argentina, principal exporting country of horses worldwide, with an average of 4.828 exported horses in the last three years, reaching US$ 32 millions. The project seeks to find profitability to an unknown product in Chile, buts already it has been proved in other countries, being his principal advantage avoid the transportation of empty stalls, what it implies a decrease in the payload of a flight in US$ 1.300, to eliminate the costs of cleanliness and disinfection’s in the utilization of the current corrals, and the logistics of movement of empty stalls in a network of an airline. A methodology of project evaluation it is in use, realizing the market researches, technically, legally and economically respective and analyzing the costs of construction of a stall of wood not IATA certificate, but that it fulfills with the regulations LAR for the transport of equines.
