Abstract
This degree investigation is a work that intends to give the reader information on general aviation matters. Mainly it is about the problem initiated at Los Cerrillos Aerodrome’s close and gets worst after the 2008 accident at Tobalaba Aerodrome. After this events, general aviation it’s found to be unable to fully function. Through the analysis of this situation, Aeródromo Eulogio Sánchez Errázuriz’s Commission determines that Tobalaba can no longer keep operating at the same rate anymore; they lowered the number of flights allowed to operate from there until the habilitation of a new aerodrome. Afterwards it is decided that Peldehue is the best place to install an aerodrome for those who cannot operate from Tobalaba anymore. According to DAP this operations should be around 30% of Tobalaba’s aircrafts. Peldehue’s aerodrome has not yet built; the construction will begin during 2013 at the lands given by Chilean Army to DGAC. At this lands, northwards Colina 30 kilometers through Los Libertadores highway, they will build a 1.250 meters runway with its taxiways Alpha and Bravo (Charlie is planned to an after stage of building), a DGAC building and a platform in an initial state. At this initial state the Peldehue Aerodrome will be able to take in 110 aircrafts, of which 80% will be kept in hangars. This means, there will be a need to 21.252 square meters of built hangars for this aircrafts according to the prior studies made by Arcadis Geotécnica at request from DAP. Knowing that Peldehue’s Aerodrome will be for general aviation only, an operator profile is made from the characteristics of Tobalaba’s operators. There co-exist AirClubs, Operators, Flight instruction academies and Maintenance centers. Therefore, to supply the needs of these organizations the Peldehue’s Aerodrome should consider the following business opportunities identified from the profile of operators. • Fuel: For cars, outside the aerodrome, and JP1 and AVGAS for aircrafts inside the aerodrome. • CMA: Maintenance center for the aircrafts. • Hangar services: Aircrafts need to be kept from climate inclemency. • Workers feeding: The Aerodrome is far from social centers, where people can access basic service like this. • Workers transportation: People not always owns a car and transportation is needed to a place so far from the city like Peldehue is. • Trash recollection: For the inside of the Aerodrome, to keep it cleaned at all times. • Security: As every Aerodrome, it’s vital to have security at the entrance spaces, to avoid safety issues. • Communications: Get installations for telephone lines and internet. • Ornament: Make of the Aerodrome a nice place to spend time for people even though they are not flying. • Real-estate installations: the same as the hangars, but with office and administrative spaces. After identifying the business opportunities for Peldehue’s Aerodrome, Hangar and Real-estate projects are chosen to be evaluated technical and economically. The project intends to supply Hangars to keep the aircrafts, and administrative offices included in the hangar for organizations and privates. Giving spaces for days, months (for the privates) or long term contracts (for the organizations). Initially the project will provide 14.876 square meters during the period 0 of the Shukachukau Society, which is the 70% of the market demand planning on augment it at an 8% rate annually. At the end of 10 years of projected demand, the society will have built 26.641 square meters of hangars for around 158 aircrafts. The Shukachukau Society will work with a simple structure with a CEO, 3 other managers at commercial, finance and operations departments inside the Peldehue Aerodrome. The results on the finance study of the unfinanced project throw the following indicators: • VAN: 29.401 [UF] • TIR: 26,45% • Payback: 4 [years] The conclusion to these indicators is that the project is likely to be done, keeping the precaution of making credits and financial support studies and a detail engineering study, because of the high investment considered initially for the investors.
