Habitar la Roca: el ser, entre el artificio y lo natural. Puesta de valor en el paisaje de Punta Peñablanca

Abstract

Punta Peñablanca es un borde rocoso de gran valor natural, ambiental y escenico ubicado en la zona típica de Algarrobo, pero que pese a su cercanía con las playas El Canelo y el Canelillo, los destinos más visitados de la comuna y ser un lugar intensamente vivido, no forma parte activa del imaginario de las personas, ya que no es recononcido ni mencionado en las encuestas de percepción ciudadana, convirtiendose en un lugar invisibilizado. Frente a esto, el proyecto plantea que este tipo de paisaje no necesita ser transformado con grandes infraestructuras o programaticas complejas para ser valorado, sino que desde el entendimiento de este y mediante una arquitectura capaz de reconocer, acompañar e integrarse en el paisaje. Es por esto que la propuesta trabaja el concepto habitar la roca, articulandose a través de la intervención mínima, entendida como un gesto leve y esencial que no interrumpe el paisaje. El enfoque del proyecto se centra en la relación entre el ser y la naturaleza, proponiendo una forma de habitar el paisaje a través de un artificio que no se instale como elemento transformador. El proyecto Habitar la roca: El ser, entre el artificio y lo natural, tiene como objetivo principal la puesta en valor del paisaje de Punta Peñablanca revelando el paisaje que se transita, pero no se reconoce; que se habita, pero no se nombra. Para ello y a través de un recorrido por la roca, se definen tres escenarios de uso: desplazamiento, contemplación y permanencia. Cada uno se expresa a través de elementos mínimos, ligados al cuerpo y al tiempo, que dialogan con el terreno sin dominarlo. La estrategia proyectual opera en tres escalas. Territorial; la huella del cuerpo en el territorio, del hito; el cuerpo que se detiene y constructiva, con una lógica de permanencia silenciosa. Punta Peñablanca is a rocky edge of high natural, environmental, and scenic value located within the heritage zone of Algarrobo. Despite its proximity to El Canelo and El Canelillo beaches—two of the most visited destinations in the commune—and being a place that is intensely experienced, it remains absent from the public’s collective imagination. It is neither recognized nor mentioned in citizen perception surveys, rendering it an invisible place. In response to this, the project proposes that this type of landscape does not require large infrastructures or complex programs to be appreciated. Rather, its value can emerge through an understanding of the site and through an architecture that acknowledges, accompanies, and integrates into the landscape. For this reason, the proposal is based on the concept of inhabiting the rock, articulated through minimal intervention—understood as a subtle and essential gesture that does not disrupt the landscape. The project's approach centers on the relationship between the human being and nature, proposing a way of inhabiting the landscape through an artifice that does not impose itself as a transforming element. The project, Inhabiting the Rock: The Being, Between the Artifice and the Natural, aims primarily to bring value to the landscape of Punta Peñablanca by revealing a territory that is traversed but not recognized; inhabited but unnamed. To achieve this, and through a journey across the rock, the project defines three scenarios of use: movement, contemplation, and permanence. Each of these is expressed through minimal elements—closely tied to the body and to time—that establish a dialogue with the terrain without dominating it. The design strategy unfolds across three intertwined scales: the territorial, where the body's presence leaves a trace in the landscape; the moment of pause, where the body becomes a landmark; and the constructive, guided by a logic of silent permanence that allows the architecture to merge with the place rather than impose upon it.
