Abstract
Antucoya es una mina de cobre a cielo abierto que opera mediante el proceso de hidrometalurgia. Este yacimiento, del tipo pórfido de baja ley, actualmente cuenta con una producción promedio anual de 85.000 toneladas de cobre fino y una vida útil de 20 años.
Desde que comenzó su operación, se ha visto amenazada por una condición de polvo abrumadora debido a factores geológicos, geográficos y climáticos que comprometen directamente la salud y seguridad de los trabajadores, y la producción por la escasa visibilidad. Esta condición, sumada a los compromisos que posee el Grupo Minero, ha llevado a Antucoya a proponer una carta de iniciativas para combatir la polución.
A fines del 2022, se comenzó a posicionar fuertemente el supresor de polvo Watersol MPOL 515, un humectante para las frentes de carguío que en fase de prueba mostró excelentes resultados. Con el transcurso del tiempo, el producto se instaló firmemente en la operación de Antucoya, pero el beneficio no era observado pese a la aplicación diaria.
Es por lo anterior, que el objetivo de este trabajo se centra en revisar el actual funcionamiento del proyecto, a fin de plantear las deficiencias halladas y proponer mejoras, para mostrar los beneficios de aplicar correctamente este producto. Para ello fue necesario realizar una prueba que fuera valorizada en términos cualitativos y cuantitativos.
Antucoya is an open pit copper mine that operates through the hydrometallurgy process. This deposit, of the low-grade porphyry type, currently has an average annual production of 85.000 tons of fine copper and a useful life of 20 years. Since its operation began, it has been threatened by an overwhelming dust condition due to geological, geographical and climatic conditions that directly compromise the safety and security of workers, and production due to poor visibility. This condition, added to the commitments that the Mining Group has, has led Antucoya to propose a letter of initiatives to combat pollution. At the end of 2022, the Watersol MPOL 515 dust suppressant began to be strongly positioned, a humectant for loading fronts, which showed excellent results in the testing phase. Over time, the product became firmly established in the Antucoya operation, but the benefit was not observed despite daily application. It's for this reason that the objective of this work focuses on reviewing the current operation of the project, in order to raise the deficiencies found and propose improvements, to show the benefits of correctly applying this product. For this it was necessary to carry out a test that was valued in qualitative and quantitative terms.
