Abstract
In 2005, Chile gives an important step in his history of foreign trade, when he signed the Agreement of Free Trade with the People's Republic of China. After that, Chile is positioned as the most open economy of the world, acceding approximately to 85 % of the world GDP. The major importance of this agreement is that Chile turned into the first country out of Asia in signing a free trade agreement with China, which every day acquires a bigger importance in the world’s economic panorama. Nowadays, China is the third biggest economy and the second exporter of goods of the world. The low participation of the small and medium companies in the exports, from Chile to China, is the problematic that moves this research. There are several cases of Chilean SMEs that have managed to accede to the Chinese markets, obtaining good results and even better projections to future. Therefore it is necessary to learn from them. By reviewing previous investigations, and making a survey to SMEs that have exported China, it’s possible to identify several key elements in order to make a SME of Chile could export successfully China.
