Abstract
Digital transformation, often referred to as DX, is the process of introducing digital technologies to create new, or modify existing, business processes, culture, and customer experiences, to meet changing business and market requirements in order to be efficient and productive. Digital transformation is changing the way business gets done and, in some cases, creating new classes of businesses, it impacts everyone related to the company, even customers. We can easily identify transformation as a phenomenon developing along world history, just taking a look back to the steam machine, which gave place to the first Industrial Revolution, following came the second Industrial Revolution line production and massive technological advancements; another century passes and we witness the third one, witch brought forth the rise of electronics, telecommunications and of course computers. Currently we´re living the forth Industrial Revolution, also known as Industry 4.0 and we are experiencing it every day and its magnitude is yet unknown. Now we’re firmly entrenched in the digital age, and businesses of all sorts are creating clever, effective, and disruptive ways of leveraging technology. It encourages businesses to reconsider everything, based on electronic devices, internet, environmental consciousness, and ways of becoming faster every day. Even though digital transformations offers small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) opportunities to innovate and grow, they are facing difficulties adopting digital technologies. In order to be successful, its required to follow some important steps and it starts with a strategy and a clear road map.
