Abstract
In recent years, climate change has made itself felt with greater force, representing a global challenge that exacerbates situations of scarcity of resources, including energy and/or heat. In this context, solar ovens have emerged as a sustainable and resilient solution to face the effects of climate change in affected communities. This study examines how solar ovens can address the twin problems of climate change and energy shortages by assessing their ability to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provide a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Through a comparative analysis with conventional cooking systems, it is shown that solar ovens can mitigate emissions by using clean and renewable solar energy. In addition, complementary advantages of solar ovens are explored which in scarcity situations are exacerbated by climate change, such as their resistance to extreme weather events and their ability to function in areas with limited access to conventional energy infrastructure. Through examples of successful implementations in vulnerable communities, it illustrates how solar ovens can contribute to adaptation and resilience to climate change, promotion of food safety, and improvement of living conditions in affected environments. This study highlights the importance of including solar ovens as a strategic tool in climate change mitigation and adaptation planning and policies, promoting their adoption and integration into sustainable development programs
