Abstract
This particular document expresses the investigation and implementation procedures, which allows the definition of an architecture for requirements and the corresponding design for the Chilean Virtual Observatory (ChiVO). All this, according to the current challenges that arise in the area of astronomy in terms of storage and processing of large volumes of data from various astronomical observatories. Through this memory, the reader could witness that the implementation of this Chilean astro-informatics platform, supported by an architecture “Cloud Computing" manifests a tangible solution capable of weighing up (to some extent) the problem of “Data Avalanche" for its dynamic and effective use. On the other hand the reader will be able to distinguish through a systemic analysis, the functions and relations that fulfill each of the components that make up the ChiVO system, considering at all times the protocols and standards recommended for the implementation of a virtual observatory. Finally, it is necessary to point out that this work is oriented towards astronomers who wish to use the services that the Chilean Virtual Observatory will have available (some of which already are), for computer engineers seeking a theoretical basis for the foundation of “Cloud" architectures, and ultimately, for any person with interest on what is involved in the development of an astro-informatics platform.
