Abstract
This research describes the improvement process and pilot validation of ICTE-MM, a maturity model for assessing the use of ICT in school education. The proposal consists in a hierarchical model composed of four leverage domains (Management, Infrastructure, Teachers and Students), each with five key domain areas which are related to critical variables, which are measurable and controllable. The model was incorporated to an adapted web platform for the validation process and future use. Five schools and ten professionals participated in the validation process, but only two schools completed the evaluation, so two roadmaps were generated and delivered to the respective principals. The results show that the best leverage domain evaluated was Infrastructure, the worst was Students and the highest maturity level reached was two. Finally, suggested improvements were considered, including a review of the wording of the statements of the questionnaires and a more precise discernment between capability levels.
