Abstract
En los últimos años el concepto de PMO (Project Management Office) ha
tomado mucho más fuerza dentro de los distintos tipos de empresas
existentes en el mercado, ya que estas se ven en la necesidad de poder
controlar de mejor manera sus distintas áreas, con el fin de poder enfrentar
los mercados cambiantes y competitivos que se presentan en la actualidad.
En un comienzo, el foco del control se centra en los aspectos más financieros
y de rentabilidad, pero a medida que las empresas maduran en el tiempo,
esta figura cambia y se pasa de un control netamente financiero a un control
más integral que va desde los ámbitos estratégicos a los más operacionales.
En la literatura actual, se encuentra valiosa información que sirve de guía
para la implementación de una oficina de gestión de proyectos.
Este trabajo pretende demostrar si la aplicación de una PMO genera valor
en las organizaciones y cuales son las causas de no tenerla implementada
en un proyecto de inversión. Considerando esto, se realizara una descripción
de cómo fue estipulado un proyecto de inversión en una planta
manufacturera de Santiago.
El resultado de este trabajo servirá como base conceptual y aplicada para la
implementación de proyectos de modernizaciones en cualquier organización
que se encuentre ejecutando o en pos de llevar a cabo una iniciativa que les
permita obtener el éxito de implementación de proyectos.
El desarrollo de esta tesis es con base a la experiencia que el autor adquirió
durante el proceso de inversión y modernización de una planta
manufacturera.
In recent years the concept of PMO (Project Management Office) has taken much strength within different types of companies in the market, as these are the need to better control the various areas, with the order to cope with changing markets and competitive presented today. Initially, the focus of control focuses on the financial aspects and profitability, but as companies mature in time, this figure changes and moving from purely financial control to a more comprehensive monitoring ranging from strategic areas to more operational. In the current literature is valuable information that helps guide the implementation of a project management office. This paper aims to show whether the implementation of a PMO creates value in organizations and what are the causes of not having implemented an investment project? Considering this, it will be a description of how it was stipulated an investment project in a manufacturing plant of Santiago. The result of this work will serve as a conceptual basis and applied to the implementation of modernization projects in any organization that is running or after carrying out an initiative that allows them to make a successful project implementation. The development of this thesis is based on the author's experience acquired during the process of investment and modernization of a manufacturing plant.
