Abstract
The Chilean Navy replaced between 2005 and 2007 eight frigates, which were incorporated into the national fleet, where a useful life of twenty years for the vessels was projected. This meant preparing the necessary port infrastructure to support the ships in the Molo de Abrigo, where between other variables the power supply from CHILQUINTA Company was considered, being explained in the first chapters from this thesis. Being the aim of this investigation the energy resources optimization. The second part of the thesis is focused in the research methodology used, which is based on ISO 50001, Energy Management Systems. This norm establishes the requirements in an organization, in order to have an energy management system. The idea is to help and to improve their energy performance, increase energy efficiency and reduce environmental impacts, as well as increase their competitive advantages in the markets in which they participate, without sacrificing productivity. In the last chapters from this document, was performed a qualitative and quantitative study of electricity consumption and CO2 emissions, in order to demonstrate the convenience to implement a system that optimizes the use of energy resources on board the frigates and produces a significant reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases from thermoelectric plants, which provide energy to the vessels.
