Abstract
Los activos tecnológicos son parte esencial de toda empresa, sin la tecnología apropiada ninguna empresa podría hacer funcionar su negocio, activos como: PC, notebooks, servidores, impresoras, son cada vez más requeridos por las grandes empresas. La principal pregunta es ¿Quién controla y administra los activos tecnológicos? Si lo hiciera la propia empresa perdería el foco de su negocio, la mejor opción es externalizar este tipo de servicio, dejando en manos expertas toda la administración de la Infraestructura TI (Tecnologías de Información). Los requisitos mínimos con los que debe cumplir el Servicio de Gestión de Activos Tecnológicos son: tener control total sobre el ciclo de vida del activo, contar con procesos acordes a la exigencia de la organización y el cliente, poseer roles y funciones bien definidas, tener una estructura que permita una interacción dinámica entre cada uno de las áreas funcionales de la organización, y poseer un administrador del servicio que sea capaz de guiar el proyecto e informar al cliente de los respectivos avances. El nivel de gestión sobre los activos debe llegar al punto en que la organización recomiende cambios o renovación de equipos, fijando como parámetros su vida útil, capacidad de disco, capacidad memoria y otros atributos críticos. Por último, la organización debe ser capaz de vender el servicio como un pack de Servicios TI, tomando en cuenta que el Servicio de Gestión de Activos Tecnológico depende a su vez de más servicios como lo son: el servicio de bodega, el servicio de soporte técnico y el servicio de mesa de ayuda.
Technology Assets are an essential part of any organization. Without the appropriate technology no company could run its business. Assets like PC’s, laptops, servers, and printers are every timemore required for the big companies. The main question is: Who controlsand managesthe company’ technological assets? If it’s done by the company it would lose its focus.The best option is to outsource this kind of services, leaving all the administration of TI (Technology Information) Infrastructure in expert hands.The minimum requirements that a Technological Asset Management Service must accomplish are: to have total control over the asset’s lifecycle, its processes has to be consistent with the requirements of the organization and its clients, it must have well defined roles and functions, havea structure that allows a dynamic interaction between each of the functional areas of the company, and have a service manager that must be able to guide the project and informthe customer about the respective advances. The level of management over the assets must reach the point where the organization recommends changes or replacement of some equipment setting as parameters its useful life, disk capacity, memory capacity and other critical attributes as a parameter.Finally, the organization must be able to sell the service as a pack of IT services, consideringthatthe Asset Management Service alsodepends on more services such as: warehouse service, technical support service and the“help desk” service.
