Abstract
La industria de la televisión basa su modelo en consumidores que utilizan el servicioalrededor de 3 a 5 horas día para la visualización de contenido, de un total de 6 horas paratodos los dispositivos. En el mercado global, China e India lideran el número de suscriptores;Europa y Corea lideran la penetración de mercado; y, Estados Unidos lidera la estructura decostos e ingresos. En Chile, la televisión de pagada hoy alcanza 3 millones de hogaresdisminuyendo la distancia en el acceso, uso y apropiación de las tecnologías, a nivelsocioeconómico y de género. Chile se destaca, en el puesto 38º en la clasificación mundial,según el indicador NRI, enfrentando el desafío más importante de superar las dificultades deasegurar aumentos sostenidos de productividad y futuro crecimiento.Para determinar factores de viabilidad se determinó estudiar económicamente las cuatro máspopulares tecnologías disponibles: Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT), Direct To Home(DTH), Hibrido de Fibra y Coaxial (HFC) y Fiber To The Home (FTTH), determinando elescenario productivo más adecuado. Los indicadores económicos evaluados sin y confinanciamiento calculados arrojaron como resultado que, la tecnología HFC con una VAN567.682.600 pesos, TIR 26,58% y Pay Back 5 años (sin financiamiento) y con una VAN678.320.841 pesos, TIR 34,38% y Pay Back 5 años (con financiamiento), muestra ser laalternativas económicamente más viable y rentable en el periodo analizado, seguida muy decerca por la tecnología FTTH; y descartando las tecnologías TDT y DTH.Para determinar directrices estratégicas e identificar factores de oportunidad se realizó dostipos de análisis: sensibilidad y cualitativos. En el análisis de sensibilidad ante variacionesde aumento en la tarifa del servicio, existen mejores rentabilidades y que el comportamientode la VAN y la TIR con pendientes positivas. Contrario a lo anterior, ante variaciones deaumento en el tipo de cambio (excluyendo cambios en las tarifas de los servicios y valoresde venta de suscriptores) las rentabilidades disminuyen, obteniendo pendientes negativas. Elanálisis cualitativo se realizó de manera de complementar el estudio realizado, reforzandoque la tecnología FTTH, es altamente recomendada proponiendo tres claras directrices:Ofrecer una experiencia Televisión, Aumentar el producto e Implementar iniciativas quepermitan fomentar el uso de dispositivos conectados.

In the global market, Chinaand India lead the number of subscribers; Europe and Korea lead market penetration; and theUnited States leads the cost and revenue structure. In Chile, Pay television today reaches 3million households, decreasing the distance in access, use and appropriation of technologies,in socioeconomic and gender terms. Chile stands out in the 38th place in the world ranking,according to the NRI indicator, facing the most important challenge of overcoming thedifficulties of securing sustained increases in productivity and future growth. To determineviability factors, the four most popular technologies available were evaluated: DigitalTerrestrial Television (DTT), Direct To Home (DTH), Fiber and Coaxial Hybrid (HFC) andFiber To The Home (FTTH).The economic indicators evaluated with and without calculated financing showed that HFCtechnology with a NPV 567.682.600 pesos, IRR 26,58% and Pay Back 5 years (withoutfinancing) and with a NPV 678.320.841 pesos, TIR 34,38% and Pay Back 5 years (withfinancing), shows to be the economically more viable and profitable alternatives in theanalyzed period, followed very closely by the FTTH technology; and discarding DTT andDTH technologies.To determine strategic guidelines and identify factors of opportunity to perform two types ofanalysis: sensitivity and qualitative.In the analysis of sensitivity to variations of increase in the service price, there are betterreturns and that the behavior of the NPV and the IRR with positive slopes. Contrary to theabove, changes in the exchange rate (excluding changes in the rates of services and sales ofsubscribers), the revenue decrease, obtaining negative slopes.The qualitative analysis was done in order to complement the study, reinforcing the FTTHtechnology, it is highly recommended by proposing three clear guidelines: To offer a TVexperience, Increase the product and Implement initiatives that encourage the use ofconnected devices.
