Abstract
The current study made use of the Chilean pension systems’ official data (in which theannual average amounts and discounts are included) and the country’s annual lifeexpectations, both equally taken from a period from 1990 to 2014. The foundation of thisstudy comes from the population’s lack of knowledge on the current pension’s system, particularly motivated by how important the social security policy is (which it is in themediatic lecture now a days) within increasing and progressive Chilean life expectationsand the problems the previous means to the system. With this data it is seek to individualizethe most influent factor on the pensions’ calculation and to achieve the clarification on howthe main variables are being considerate. The aim is to understand the current pensions’ system, to internalize with its bases and itsspecific and technical points, so it is possible to analyze its main flaws and to corroboratethe relationship they have with the variables in study, within recommendations for a betterworking in the system. By the hand of econometric tools, some analysis of normality, autocorrelation, multicollinearity and stationarity of the variables are done; concentratingon the life expectation variable which appears to be the most influential when calculatingthe pensions.
