Abstract
The present degree work consists of studying the seismic behavior the soil shows at the central area of Concepción. The motivation of the study lies in the nature of the earthquake response obtained in the city downtown accelerometer, located at the “Colegio de la Inmaculada concepción” (RENADIC), which presented two response spectra peaks. In particular, modeling was performed to study the spectral response that develops its surface when subjected to different seismic excitations, located in different outcropping stations of the country.Modeling is performed by finite elements, using the Software Plaxis 2D. The constitutive model Hardening Soil Small, elasto-plastic advanced nonlinear model that considers the increase of soil stiffness to small deformations and damping phenomenon is used. Soil parameters are determined in order to generate a standard seismic model for the central area of Concepción. The modeling is also made using a simple one-dimensional method, by the EERA software platform that works using an equivalent linear method. After obtaining the results, these are analyzed and compared with those recorded by the “Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepción” station. Also, comparisons are made with the responses obtained by transforming this surface registration to bedrock by a simple one-dimensional method, called deconvolution, and modeling it with the methods described above.
