Abstract
La ciudad de Valparaíso, patrimonio mundial de la UNESCO, contiene gran cantidad de inmuebles históricos abandonados que son potencialmente recuperables y que forman parte del tejido urbano original. Actualmente, muchos de estos inmuebles se encuentran deteriorados y en algunos casos, abandonados. A su vez, considerando los cambios de la ciudad, se logra identificar a Valparaíso como una ciudad universitaria, en donde cada año ingresan estudiantes a la educación superior. Parte de estos estudiantes vienen de otras ciudades y se alojan en pensiones, departamentos, casas de familiares, entre otros, siendo esto una problemática para abordar. La propuesta introduce un programa funcional de residencia estudiantil que da nueva vida al edificio patrimonial, ofreciendo un espacio habitable para estudiantes universitarios y, al mismo tiempo, impulsando la conservación y revitalización del
patrimonio arquitectónico. Además, contempla la creación de áreas de uso público para fomentar la interacción social y cultural en el sector.
The city of Valparaíso, a UNESCO world heritage site, contains a large number of abandoned historic buildings that are potentially recoverable and that are part of the original urban fabric. Currently, many of these properties are deteriorated and in some cases, abandoned. At the same time, considering the changes in the city, Valparaíso is identified as a university city, where students enroll in higher education each year. Some of these students come from other cities and stay in boarding houses, apartments, relatives' homes, among others, which is a problem to be addressed. The proposal introduces a functional student residence program that breathes new life into the heritage building, offering a living space for university students while simultaneously promoting the conservation and revitalization of the architectural heritage. It also contemplates the creation of public areas to foster social and cultural interaction in the area.
