Abstract
En los últimos años, los productos comerciales Off-The-Shelf (COTS) se estánutilizando cada vez más en el mundo del desarrollo de software. Escoger elsoftware es una tarea no trivial para las organizaciones, y requiere un rigurosoproceso de evaluación. Por lo tanto, la pregunta clave parece mantenerse: ¿Cómoidentificar el software más adecuado para satisfacer las necesidades organizacionales?Este trabajo presenta la continuación de una técnica de evaluación de softwarellamada PBEC-OTSS (Process-Based Evaluation and Comparison Off-the-Shelfsoftware), la cual apoya a pymes, proyectos departamentales, novatos en un problemade decisión tan complejo como es la selección de software.La técnica fue validada con un estudio experimental, en el que participaron 1experto y 9 profesionales resolviendo un problema real, y la principal conclusiónes que los resultados obtenidos son muy cercanos a los que a un experto puede dar.La contribución de este trabajo es el análisis de Trade-Off en la toma de decisión,aspecto que no fue considerado en la versión anterior.
In recent years, commercial products Off-The-Shelf (COTS) are being usedincreasingly in the world of software development. Choosing the software is anontrivial task for organizations, and requires a rigorous evaluation process. Therefore,the key question seems to remain: How to identify the most appropriatesoftware to meet organizational needs?This paper presents the continuation of a technical evaluation of software calledPBEC-OTSS (Process-Based Evaluation and Comparison Off-the-Shelf software),which supports SMEs, departmental projects rookies in a decision problemas complex as is the software selection.The technique was validated with an experimental study involving 1 expertand 9 professionals who solved a real problem, and the main conclusion is that theresults are very close to those that an expert can give.The contribution of this work is the analysis of decision trade-off, something thatwas not considered in the previous version.
