Abstract
The present work focuses on the study of abrasive wear in anti-wear steels, having a comparison between some currently used such as T-500 steel and Hadfield steel, with the so-called new generation of anti-wear steels, using steels of Austenitic twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) (Fe22Mn0.6CxCr) of 0, 5 and 10% chromium. This study is carried out using the machine to measure abrasive wear, according to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) G65. To obtain data that allow comparison, a maintenance, calibration and fine-tuning of the ASTM G65 abrasive wear machine is carried out, considering that, for the experimental process, it is necessary to convert parameters, prepare the abrasive material and the availability of raw material to manufacture test tubes. A study is carried out using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of some tested specimens, to verify the superficial damage produced by abrasive wear to the specimens and to be able to compare from another point of view the different mechanisms of superficial damage.
