Abstract
La presente memoria aborda el diseño e implementación de un sistema institucional de integración de datos en la Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM), orientado a consolidar información dispersa en múltiples plataformas académicas y administrativas. Se propone una arquitectura automatizada de procesos ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) basada en tecnologías libres como Python, Airflow, Docker y PostgreSQL, permitiendo mejorar la disponibilidad, consistencia y trazabilidad de los datos institucionales. La solución fue validada a través de su aplicación en los proyectos SAT-E y SIGPI, demostrando mejoras significativas en eficiencia operativa, calidad de datos y soporte a la toma de decisiones. Este trabajo sienta las bases para una gobernanza de datos más robusta y habilita capacidades futuras de analítica avanzada, configurándose como un modelo replicable para otras instituciones de educación superior.
This thesis presents the design and implementation of a data integration system at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM), aimed at consolidating academic and adminis trative information scattered across multiple platforms. The solution proposes an automated ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) architecture using open-source technologies such as Python, Airflow, Docker, and PostgreSQL, to enhance data availability, consistency, and traceability. The system was validated through its application in SAT-E and SIGPI institutional projects, showing significant improvements in operational efficiency, data quality, and decisionmaking support. This work lays the groundwork for stronger data governance and future capabilities in advanced analytics, offering a replicable model for other higher education institutions.
