Abstract
We want to evaluate and propose a gas reuse system of a Slurry drying process in a powder detergent plant, to reduce fuel consumption, seeking to make the process more energy efficient and clean in the context of a market every time more competitive The detergent drying processes, the thermal processes involved, as well as heat recovery systems and implementation incentives are reviewed, and then the data of the drying process of the Unilever Carrascal plant is collected and sorted, on which two configurations are developed possible gas extraction; No. 1 in the cyclone interconnection pipeline and No. 2 in chimneys. To evaluate these configurations, a computer simulator is created on the EES software, which uses as input the data collected from the current system during the period between January and December 2018, allowing in the first part, characterize the gases of each configuration and dimension properly the equipment to be used, and ina second part, determine the fuel economy, the decrease in carbon dioxide emission and the increase in electricity consumption of the proposed new system compared to the current one. The results of each configuration are analyzed economically taking into account the estimated implementation investment for each one and the benefits obtained for each simulation, determining the configuration with chimney gas extraction as the most appropriate for the design to be proposed, due to a shorter period of recovery of the investment and viability of the project, as well as less risk of clogging of the heat exchanger equipment.
