Abstract
The commune of Limache stands out for the presence of two cities that, despite rapid demographic growth with nearby urban areas, are divided due to the lack of integration of the watercourse that delimits Limache Viejo with San Francisco de Limache. This situation has caused challenges in terms of displacement such as the internal mobility produced in the transfer of the channel. The Limache Estuary has significant ecological relevance by performing various crucial functions in the local ecosystem. However, its current state reflects a worrying fragility and vulnerability, a direct result of human activities and the influence of global warming. These circumstances arise in the prolongation of consequences and notable alterations in the environment, being direct consequences of this problem. In this context, the Limache Estuary Park has been proposed as a project that seeks to achieve a balance between urban development and environmental protection. This project is based on an environmental conservation and integration approach with the community, as well as improving mobility between the two seemingly divided cities. Its main objective is to promote a higher life quality for residents and be established as a reference model in terms of sustainability in the face of drought.
