Abstract
Currently, the calculation methodology applied in Chile to recognize the capacity of variable renewable power plants, specifically solar photovoltaic and wind, is considered unfair or discriminatory by these, as it measures its contribution to sufficiency of the system at times when the natural resource they use as the primary source of energy is not available. The purpose of this work is to propose a new alternative to the current model of initial power calculation for solar and wind power plants that is representative and equitable in comparison to the rest of the technologies.
