Abstract
The objective of this statement is measure and quantify the value of Technical Instructions (IT) in the maintenance activities of mining equipment for the Komatsu company, proposing improvements to raise this performance focusing in the changes on the maintenance times and the user’s perception. The IT are documents that provide necessary information to realize the maintenance labor. In the first instance is presented the context in which the company is inserted and how it works the operations of Komatsu. Afterwards it develops the theoretical framework focusing in how operate the IT inside the company and the improvement methodologies, evaluating three: DMAIC, PDCA and LEAN. PDCA is chosen because it versatility and for his process generality, and for the qualitative features of the IT. The results obtained that the mean time and variability of maintenance it improvements, in general terms, in 23,31% with the presence of the IT, for the components analyzed it’s achieved obtain an improvement of 27,29% and 20,05% for the variability and mean time, respectively, transverse to all jobs and components. The survey obtained a 45% of response, where it’s achieved verify that the maintainers use and they are satisfied with the IT with an 84% in both subject, but the IT doesn’t use with the desired frequency for the company. On base to this data it generates the proposing improvements, focused in the periodic analysis of the mean time maintenance, the navigability of the document and the periodic analysis to the user survey. The economic impact of the IT in the maintenance it accomplished the reduction of the opportunity cost of the mining trucks in the order of 15.411,22 [US$/truck], rising this value to US$ 3.529.168, 73 for all jobs analyzed.
