Abstract

To understand How and why to change the levels of expenses is essential at the time to generate an efficient and productive management of the company. Same way how important is to understand there will be variations affecting these rates of expenses. Analyzing the methodology to use is essential to consider the level of expenses the company needs. It is important to consider the variations or behave of the fluctuation of expenses in order to be aware and predict the needs to make changes accordingly. This study was based on three main pillar or principles: The econometric analysis by using co integration, the development of a linear regression and a third one the analysis of the Sticky-Cost for the Company which includes the CPI, Copper market price, IMACEC and exchange rate. This analysis provides some conclusive results on the relation of the expense and other variations. The significant variables for the linear regressions were the level of inventories, the exchange rate, the inventory turn-over and the number of workers. This model allows predict the expenses in the future and to understand its behavior. On the other hand the Sticky Cost analysis was conclusive regarding the existence of this phenomenon inside the company for the general expenses variable, where it was determined that increasing the sales level by 1%, the expenses increased in 0.51% and that decrease by 1% the expenses decrease by only 0.31% It´s important to note that with this result, the rigidity of the administration expenses, downward or upward, is not generated by an intrinsic behavior; this is the result of the decision to the administration. Knowing the variables that are involved, the company can better manage these variables and reduce the level of expenditure of the firm.
