Abstract
El IoT o Internet de las Cosas corresponde a un término que engloba la incorporación de Internet a dispositivos de la vida diaria, de forma de establecer una red interconectada que permite la aplicación a diversas áreas de la industria, siendo una de sus principales áreas de aplicación el Healthcare. Adicionalmente a esto la irrupción del Edge Computing, el cual permite el acercamiento del cálculo a los usuarios de forma de experimentar mejores tiempos de respuesta, abren la posibilidad para la construcción de arquitecturas que permitan no solo la comunicación rápida, sino que de largo alcance, utilizando por ejemplo protocolos como LoRa, pudiendo aplicarse para el monitoreo de Adultos Mayores.
A lo largo de este trabajo, se indagarán las diferentes alternativas presentes en trabajos relacionados, de forma de construir una arquitectura que permita el monitoreo de Adultos Mayores, pudiendo suplir las distintas falencias que puedan presentar dichos trabajos. Para esto se evaluará el comportamiento de la misma frente a distintos escenarios, para determinar si esta cumple con mantener la comunicación de largo alcance en tiempos aplicables a este contexto, todo esto con un bajo consumo energético.
Los resultados obtenidos, muestran que la utilización de LoRa es prometedora en estos escenarios, en cuanto a la mantención de la comunicación de largo alcance, superando distancias ofrecidas por otras soluciones usadas comúnmente. Adicionalmente su uso permite una autonomía de alrededor de 21 [h], resultando de muy poco gasto energético. Y finalmente la arquitectura tipo Edge, permite latencias bajas, de alrededor de 3 [s], acorde con el contexto healthcare de este documento.
The IoT or Internet of Things, a term that includes the incorporation to the Internet of devices of everyday life in a way to establish an interconnected network that grants the application to diverse industries areas, being one of them Healthcare industry. Additionally to this, the irruption of Edge Computing, which grants that calculation is close to users to allow better response times, open a possibility for the construction of architectures that not only allow fast but also long range communication, using protocols such a LoRa, being able to apply it on Elderly people monitoring. Throughout this work, different alternatives present on related work will be investigated, to be able to build an architecture which let Elder people to be monitorized, overcoming failures that related work may have. For this, the behavior of the architecture will be evaluated using different scenarios, to determine if it maintains the long range communication on times applicable to this context, all of this under low energy consumption. The results obtained, showed that LoRa is promising on these scenarios, ina way that mainatins long range communication, surpassing distances offered by other soulutions used commonly. Additionally, its use allows a battery autonomy around of 21 [h], showing low energy consumption. And finally, the Edge architecture built, allows low latencies, of around 3 [s], applicable with the healthcare context of this docuement.
