Abstract
La empresa de los ferrocarriles del estado, EFE, lleva 137 años recorriendo y entregando interconectividad a lo largo de todo nuestro país. Actualmente es una red integrada que va desde Arica a Los Lagos, contemplando una serie de servicios que permiten a los usuarios desplazarse a casi a cualquier zona del país. Uno de esos servicios es el que va desde Santiago a Rancagua, denominado como Metrotrén Rancagua Express, el cual permite a los pasajeros desplazarse los casi 82
kilómetros que separan estas dos ciudades. El objetivo de esta memoria de título es analizar la operación y gestión del mantenimiento de las unidades UT-440, las cuales corresponden a los modelos de trenes que brindan el servicio Rancagua Express. Para ello, se realizó primeramente una recopilación de las averías operacionales que presentaron estas unidades durante el período de un año. Estas averías, de alguna u otra manera, afectaban negativamente el desarrollo del servicio, motivo
por el cual se trabajó en el diseño de indicadores que permitieran evaluar tanto la calidad del servicio, como también el desempeño del contratista de mantenimiento. Las averías no solo causan un efecto negativo en el servicio (corresponde al negocio de
la empresa), sino que también representaban sintomáticamente la gestión del mantenimiento que hay detrás. Es así como se utilizaron métodos y herramientas que permitieran establecer la criticidad e impacto de estas averías presentadas como modos de falla.

It is currently an integrated network that goes from Arica to Los Lagos, contemplating a series of services that allow users to move to almost any area of the country. One of these services is the one that goes from Santiago to Rancagua, called Metrotrén Rancagua Express, which allows passengers to move the almost 82 kilometers that separate these two cities. The objective of this work is to analyze the operation and maintenance management of the UT-440 units, which correspond to the train models provided by the Rancagua Express service. To this end, a compilation of the operational failures presented by these units during the period of one year was first carried out. These failures, in one way or another, negatively affected the development of the service, which is why we worked on the design of indicators that would allow evaluating both the quality of the service, as well as the performance of the maintenance contractor. The failures not only cause a negative effect on the service (it corresponds to the business of the company), but also symptomatically represented the management of the maintenance behind it. This is how methods and tools were used to establish the criticality and impact of these failures presented as failure modes.
