Abstract
This thesis presents a critical and comprehensive analysis of the “Chequeo Digital,” a tool developed by the Inter-American Development Bank to diagnose the digital maturity of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). The study is framed within the relevance of digital transformation as a key driver of business development in the current context. The work is structured into several stages, including the characterization of Chilean MSMEs, the definition of key concepts such as digital transformation and digital maturity, and the exploration of theoretical diagnostic models. Subsequently, a critical analysis of the Chequeo Digital is conducted using methodological tools such as SWOT analysis and a User Journey Map (UJM), complemented by interviews with entrepreneurs from various productive sectors. The study’s results highlight both the strengths of the tool, such as its free access and structured design, and its limitations, which affect accessibility and relevance. Among the main opportunities for improvement identified is the need to incorporate a more inclusive, in terms of digitalization, approach tailored to the characteristics and realities of the diversity of MSMEs present in Chile. Finally, recommendations are proposed for the redesign and development of more effective tools, as well as future research lines to advance the diagnosis and support of MSMEs on their path to digital transformation. This thesis aims not only to contribute to the analysis of the Chequeo Digital but also to underscore the importance of developing tools that enable Chilean MSMEs to overcome digitalization barriers and fully seize the opportunities of the digital era.
