Abstract
The use of non-conventional renewable energies is increasingly necessary to reduce the amount of pollutants and contribute to the environment, which is why it has become very interesting to study the use of these technologies at the residential level. The main objective of this thesis is to analyze the installations of solar thermal systems for sanitary hot water and solar photovoltaic systems at residential level in single-family homes. In this thesis the technical and economic feasibility of installing the aforementioned solar systems in localities of representative regions of the country was evaluated, to choose which is the most appropriate technology to invest. The different conditions in each evaluated location were considered, of radiation, water quality, maintenance, energy prices and investment. Also the possible tax benefits of each system. A solar thermal and photovoltaic system was proposed for each locality under study, dimensioning the area of solar collectors and storage pond for solar thermal systems, and the amount of photovoltaic panels and the appropriate inverter in solar photovoltaic systems. Finally, it was concluded that the installation of photovoltaic solar systems has a greater economic profitability than that of solar thermal systems in all the localities under study, and that they also generate a great saving even in localities of low radiation, due to other conditions of the place.
