Abstract
The main goal of the current project is to determine de technical and economical feasibility of cogeneration with Organic Rankine Cycle with low to moderate enthalpy (80ºC to 120ºC) geothermal resources, in the hotel sector associated with hot springs. A state of the art review was conducted, that allowed to know the main operating parameters for systems involving the studied characteristics. Successful cases of geothermal installations with organic Rankine cycle were found, including specific cases of hotels using hot springs as energy resource, for heat and power demand. Among these cases some of the installations were found using geothermal resources from a minimal value of 75ºC. The hot springs cadaster was examined to identify the group of hot springs which have chances of developing for ORC systems. Furthermore, the tourist facilities associated to each hot spring were characterized, dismissing those cases where there are no hotel facilities available (which would mean no energy demand). 6 hot springs were found associated with hotel facilities and with geothermal resources higher than 75ºC, therefore with chances of development for the studied technology(...).
