Abstract
El trabajo de titulo presenta una solucion a un problema operacional en el proceso de molienda en la mineria del cobre. El cobre es un importante metal que posee una elevada conductividad electrica, entre otras caracteristicas. Existen distintos procesos para su obtencion, dependiendo de su mineralogia. Uno de ellos es el proceso pirometalurgico, el cual incluye la fundicion, que es el proceso principal. Para poder procesar el cobre, se necesita de un determinado grado de liberacion, el cual es el objetivo de la conminucion, que consiste en la reduccion de tamaño de la roca que contiene cobre. En la conminucion se encuentra la molienda, la cual tiene por objetivo moler el mineral de cobre hasta 0,2 mm de diametro. Uno de los tipos de molienda que existen es la llamada molienda SAG, que utiliza el mineral mas grande, con ayuda de las bolas de acero, para la reduccion de tamano. Esto sucede ingresando el mineral y las bolas en un tambor cilindrico (molino), que gira en torno a su eje. Los flujos de alimentacion tanto de bolas y mineral como de agua son variables importantes de este proceso, lo cual es necesario controlar. El control de procesos ayuda a lograr una mayor eficiencia y estabilidad en la industria. Los medidores son importantes para controlar las variables, que es el caso de la carga de bolas.
This degree work presents a solution of an operational problem in the milling process of copper mining. The cupper is an important metal that has a high electric conductivity, among other characteristics. There are different processes in order to obtain it, that depend on their mineralogy. One of them is the pyrometallurgical process, which includes smelting which is the main process. In order to process the copper, a certain degree of release is needed, which is the objective of comminution process. This process consists in the reduction of the rock size. The comminution includes the milling process, that involves reducing the diameter copper size to 0,02 mm. One of the types of milling that exists is the SAG milling, which consists of milling the mineral by itself with the help of steel balls. This occurs when the minerals and the balls are being feeding to a cylinder that rotates around its axis. The flows of feeding both ball and mineral and water are important variables of this process, which is necessary to control. Process control helps achieve greater efficiency and stability in the industry. The sensors are important to control the variables, which is the case of the ball load.
