ANÁLISIS DE LA PERCEPCIÓN DE LOS PROFESIONALES DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN ACERCA DE LA MANO DE OBRA EXTRANJERA, EN LA INDUSTRIA DE LA CONSTRUCCIÓN

Abstract

Durante los últimos años la migración se ha convertido un tema relevante a nivel mun-dial. Chile no ha estado ajeno a esta realidad, al apreciarse una gran cantidad de inmigrantes que ha llegado en los últimos años al país. (Incluyendo migrantes de raza negra, a los cuales el ciudadano común no está acostumbrado).En el sector de la construcción es frecuente encontrar mano de obra extranjera debido a que es un trabajo que resulta ser sencillo para los trabajadores poco calificados. Los efectos que esta mano de obra genera en el sector no han sido estudiados hasta el momento. Esta memoria ofrece el primer estudio comprehensivo de éste fenómeno.El siguiente trabajo se basa en la aplicación de una encuesta a los profesionales de la construcción, para así detectar la percepción que éstos tienen de la mano de obra extranjera. Se identificará a las naciones que más frecuentan esta industria, se comparará la mano de obra chilena con la extranjera en una serie de aspectos y se intentará detectar cuales factores influ-yen en la percepción positiva o negativa de los profesionales.Finalmente como conclusión se explicará cómo la productividad en el sector se ve afec-tada positivamente a raíz de la incorporación de la mano de obra extranjera y porqué la nacio-nalidad peruana es la que lidera el ranking de satisfacción de los empleadores en el sector.

In recent years the phenomenon of migration has become a relevant topic at the global level. Chile has not remained isolated from this trend. An important number of immigrants have arrived to the country during the last years, including black people, to which the common citizen is not normaly used to.In the construction sector it is frequent to find foreign workers because the low skill na-ture of the tasks required allows a quick adaptation of such workers to the job. The effects that this group of labourers has in the construction sector has not been studied so far. This thesis offers the first comprehensive study of this phenomenon.This thesis is based on a survey conducted aboutucted on professionals from construc-tion companies, with the aim to characterise their preception about foreign workers. The sur-vey will identify the most frequent foreign nationalities in this industry, it will compare national and foreign workforce on a variety of dimensions, and it will identify which factors influence the positive or negative percetions these professionals have about foreign workers.Finally, the thesis will conclude by explaining how the sector's productivity is positively affected by the influx of foreign labourers and why Peru is the leading nationality in terms of employees' satisfaction among the sector.
