Abstract
In the present thesis, it´s approached the problematic to be developed, which context rises from the necessity to study alternatives to traditional fossil fuels, establishing energetic parameters of various types and mixes of biodiesel and base fuel, in order to generate information that allows to evaluate the incorporation of these to national energetic matrix. These are carried out through the FONDEF D901 – 1070 project, developed by the USM’s Center of Environmental Technologies (CETAM, for its initials in Spanish), which goals it´s to analyze and generate databases of biodiesel’s energetic potential and pollutant emissions of national interests. The present work seeks to create databases of energetic parameters and gas emissions for a total of four types and mixes of biodiesel in a commercial vehicle (light duty), which allows be compared with results obtained from diesel. The experimental development of this work it´s made at the Renewable Energy Lab (LER), installed at the Sede José Miguel Carrera of the UTFSM, in Valparaíso, where are the installations and equipment for the vehicular test development and procurement of necessary parameters for the study. Among them are a chassis dynamometer, test vehicle (OBD and MUT III system), storage and feeding external system, and gas measuring equipment, in particular, a SEMTECH-D portable analyzer of gas emissions from diesel vehicles and a SEMTECH ExFM gas flowmeter.
