Abstract
A feasibility study was conducted, comprised of a market analysis, and a technical and economic evaluation for a medicinal cannabis cultivation and pharmacological grade extracts production facility to determine the possibility of a circular economy-oriented process design, as well as the economic viability of an integrated cultivation and processing plant with internationally certified health and quality standards. The project serves as a proposal for LABSUN, a company dedicated to the research and development of high-value natural therapeutic products, which seeks capital injections to increase its current operational capacity. The use of cannabis for medicinal purposes in Chile constitutes a civil right. Its cultivation, processing and distribution are regulated by the entities SAG and ISP, although recognition of the right by public entities (police, hospitals, etc) is still ongoing, therefore the path towards acceptance of its use represent great investment opportunities (LABSUN, as pioneer in the development of cannabis-based therapeutic products, aims to position itself as one the main players in this industry) and a great opportunity for the public health sector. There are three legal ways to access medicinal cannabis: self-cultivation, sales in pharmacies, and non-profit organizations that cultivate and create products for their members, these associations are commonly known as dispensaries or clubs. LABSUN currently develops its products through a corporation called Club Aldea Secreta. The current development of Club Aldea Secreta enables research and access to therapeutic cannabis-derived products, which helped define the project's market by identifying the main needs of the target audience, thus developing a proposal for a universe of 2.000 national clients. The scientific approach of the company places it in a privileged position to entry into new markets such as pharmacies and hospitals, in addition to presenting future possibilities of internationalization thanks to the GACP and GMP certifications of the facilities(...).
