Abstract
This study analyzes how Chilean consumers value ecofriendly attributes in mass-consumption products and examines their actual willingness to pay a price premium for sustainable alternatives. The research is set within a context where negative externalities derived from current production and consumption models, together with public policies such as the Extended Producer Responsibility Law (REP) and the Chile Circular Roadmap 2040, have increased the relevance of responsible consumption. At the same time, environmental concern and expectations for corporate transparency have risen, although a gap persists between what consumers declare and what they actually do when making purchasing decisions (the Say-Do Gap). The methodology was structured in two stages. First, a documentary review was conducted using national and international sources related to responsible consumption, ESG trends, environmental transparency, and consumer behavior. Then, a quantitative study was carried out through an online survey applied to 362 individuals aged 18 and older. The instrument assessed variables such as environmental concern, recognition of ecofriendly attributes, trust in environmental information, purchase intention, recent buying behavior, and willingness to pay. The results show that most participants report a high level of environmental concern; however, this attitude does not always translate into consistent purchasing behavior. One of the main barriers identified is...).
