Abstract
This document details the research for the development of an application for elderly people, which aims to promote the bond of new friendships. The project was carried out by using the Double Diamond design process, that comprises four key phases. In the initial phase of Discover, the isolation and loneliness issues were studied by the research of various bibliographic sources. It also included the analysis of how this problem was solved by the current programs. The inquiry sought to empathize with the users, identify design opportunities and properly define the problem to solve. The Define step was centered in the synthesis of the information that was obtained in the first phase. The user profile was precisely defined and the requirements and goals for the application were established. In this part, the success criteria were set, besides the parameters that guided the design of the solution. During the third stage, Develop, the design for the mobile phone application was carried out. This process involved the prototype creation, which included multiple iterations based on the user’s feedback. The tests were made to ensure that the needs and expectations of the elderly were fulfilled by the application, continually refining ideas and improving the usability and accessibility of the platform. In the fourth and final phase called Deliver, the design of the application was completed. In this part, the most appropriate solution was implemented, and it was prepared for a final test. The final product was settled according to the improvements made, seeking to offer an effective solution to encourage socialization and bond new friendships for the elderly people.
