Abstract
The advent of multitouch tablets, has brought new ways of doing interface design, but it has also created new problems along with it. Desktop applications are not easily translated into a multitouch environment, due to the space constraints, gesture support and the change of the interface paradigm itself. Project planning software is one of those affected applications, attempting to bring an interface based on Gantt charts from the point and click world, into the new multitouch one. In this document, a new alternative for a project planning interface is designed and implemented, based on the principles of zui, or Zoomable User Interface, in which the main navigation method is based on multitouch gestures, taking advantage of the capabilities of these new devices. Once implemented, the zoomable user interface was compared to its Gantt chart-based counterpart, and not only did the interface prove to be capable of managing a project, but also, it performed better than its counterpart when tested on a multitouch interface, for the majority of users.
