Abstract
Hoy existe un escenario de altos costos operacionales en la minería del cobre en Chile, sin
embargo hay 112 millones de dólares en inversiones, correspondientes a 49 iniciativas entre
el 2013 al 2021, lo que pese a la situación actual implica crecimiento en el sector. Recomin,
empresa de servicios para la minería, desea identificar de forma clara y en profundidad como
enfrentar los desafíos futuros y agregar valor a su negocio. Razón por la cual, en este trabajo,
definió sus planes estratégicos 2013-2021, con base en un pronóstico de demanda para dicho
periodo.
En la primera etapa se analizó la situación actual de la empresa, estructura organizacional,
sucursales, detalle del servicio. Se analizó el mercado, barreras de entrada, poder de
negociación, amenaza de productos sustitutos, entre otros. Para conocer su situación de
negocio, se revisaron sus resultados financieros del 2013, obteniendo un 23% bajo el
presupuesto de ventas, costos operacionales de sólo un 3% bajo lo presupuestado y por último
un EBT de 4,9% versus el 7,5% planificado. Luego se investigó acerca de modelos de
pronóstico de demanda. Se propuso un modelo econométrico y posteriormente se desarrolló
un modelo de pronóstico estadístico. El resultado arroja aumentos de la flota operativa, de
equipos de maquinaria pesada en faenas, del 50% al 2015, incrementos del 52% y 121% en
ventas respecto del 2009 en 2014 y 2018 respectivamente, además de un 121% y 184% de
crecimiento en capacidad de taller, respecto del 2009, para el periodo 2012 a 2014 y 2016 a
2021 respectivamente.
Finalmente se investigó acerca de tendencias actuales en la planificación estratégica y se
encontró adecuado para replantear los objetivos de Recomin, el modelo Delta de Arnoldo Hax.
Se propuso una nueva misión y visión, se definió el modelo de negocio a seguir y se
propusieron los 16 objetivos estratégicos principales de Recomin, se establecieron las
iniciativas para cumplir con estos objetivos y se plantearon los indicadores junto con el plan de
trabajo de cada área responsable.

The market entry barriers, bargaining power, threat of substitute products were analyzed, among others. For its business situation on 2013, the financial results were reviewed, obtaining a 23% under the sales budget, operational costs only 3% under budget and finally an EBT of 4.9% versus 7.5% planned. Then I research about demand forecasting models. An econometric model was proposed and also a statistical forecasting model. The results were an increase of operational equipment fleet, from 50% in 2015, increases of 52% and 121% in sales compared to 2009 in 2014 and 2018 respectively, and 121% and 184% of growth in capacity over 2009, for the period 2012-2014 and 2016-2021 respectively. Finally I investigated about current trends in strategic planning and found suitable for Recomin the Delta model of Arnoldo Hax. A new mission and vision was proposed, besides the business model to follow was defined and the 16 main strategic objectives for Recomin and the initiatives to accomplish these objectives were established, also the indicators were raised with the work plan for each area responsible.
