Abstract
Cuando se tienen pavimentos con deterioros superficiales en donde se requiere realizar trabajos
de conservación, o caminos sin carpeta de rodadura en donde es necesario proteger las capas
granulares, una alternativa es la Aplicación de Mezclas Asfálticas en Frío. Entre ellas se pueden
encontrar Lechadas Asfálticas, Microglomerados en Frío, Sellos de Agregado y Tratamientos
Superficiales, entre otros. Debido a que se confeccionan “in situ”, el tiempo de curado necesario
esta altamente relacionado con las condiciones ambientales del sector en donde serán aplicados.
Esto suele generar inconvenientes debido a que dificulta la estimación del tiempo en que será
necesario desviar o detener el tránsito de vehículos, y la cantidad de horas en que se necesitara al
personal correspondiente.
El presente estudio busca evaluar el efecto de las condiciones ambientales en mezclas asfálticas en
frío, mediante pruebas en aboratorio. Para esto se modifican los ensayos de Desgaste por
Abrasión en Medio Húmedo, Cohesiometria y Adhesividad Mediante Placa Vialit, los cuales son
realizados durante el proceso de curado de las mezclas mencionadas anteriormente. En ellos, se
varían condiciones de laboratorio, tales como la temperatura ambiente y la aplicación de viento
sobre las probetas. Los ensayos, además, se realizan en varios tiempos desde el momento de
confección de la mezcla.
When there are pavements with superficial destresses where maintenance is required, or roads without a wearing course where it is necessary to protect the base materials, an alternative is the application of Surface Treatments. Among them can be found Slurry Seal, Micro-Surfacing and Chip Seal for existing pavement or granular base, among others. Because they are made “in situ”, the necessary curing time is highly related to the environmental conditions of the place where they will be placed. This usually causes inconvenients because it makes difficult to estimate the time during which it will be necessary to divert or stop the traffic of vehicles, and the amount of hours that the corresponding personnel will be needed. The present study seeks to evaluate the effect of environmental conditions in cold asphalt mixtures, through laboratory tests. For this purpose, the Wet Track Abrasion Test, Set and Cure Development by Cohesion Tester and Adhesivity by Vialit Test were modified, which are carried out during the curing process of the mixtures mentioned above. In them, the laboratory conditions were varied, such as the ambient temperature and the application of wind on the samples. The tests, in addition, are carried out at different times from the casting of the mixture.
