Abstract
AIESEC USM is a subsidiary of AIESEC, which defines itself as a global, non-partisan and non-profit organization, run entirely by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues with social content, leadership and management. AIESEC does not discriminate for race, color, sex, gender, sexual orientation, creed, religion, or ethnic or social (AIESEC INTERNATIONAL, 2008). AIESEC was founded in 1948 by seven Economics students from Belgium, Denmark, France, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the Netherlands in response to political-cultural frictions in Europe after the Second World War. Now, is the largest youth-run organization in the world (AIESEC Chile, 2013) being present in 124 countries and territories. AIESEC has over 64 years training agents of change through experience sharing and teamwork in order to achieve peace and full development of human potential. AIESEC USM was founded on December 11, 2011 after its approbation in AIESECOPOLIS Congress in Picarquín, where got together institutions from Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. Since then, the entity works as a service organization nonprofit involved in the delimited geographical area of the Metropolitan region, leading its activities to youth leadership development and facilitation of internships to go abroad and come to Chile. The organization has a non-profit business model but focuses its efforts on developing leaders with values that impact positively on the society by facilitating and/or living experiences abroad. The model works with two main topics: first, that human resources are, in their entirety, volunteers looking to learn, grow and make a positive impact in the society. The second is that these resources should be focused on facilitating exchanges. If any of these topics fail, the institution could be on risk and being completely restructured or even be closed because it’s not being a faithful representative of the interests of AIESEC.
