Abstract
Balancing production lines, is a tool frequently used in factories. This is done to improve operational efficiency through proper scheduling of workers and machines in order to have a yield slightly higher than market demand, so you can meet deadlines committed to customers at lower cost, and on the other hand, have enough resilience to not throw away sales because of time (Goldratt y Cox, 2005). In this case study, there is a need to balance a production line according to current demand, which is 20% lower capacity than expected, bringing many inconveniences due to this inefficiency. In addition, there is the need to program the balance between labor and machinery so that the company can continue to grow for the next 15 years of operation. It is proposed to determine which factors affect the process yield in the aggregate, and deliver a solution that can recover the revenue potential and market share lost, by not having a factory setting that allows addressing the current and future requirements. The proposed solutions have generated a great impact on the results, where a low level of investment, you can get high returns, which are mainly due to the recovery of lost revenue that is 25% more than what is achievement in 2011, since you can maintain over time the growth achieved in recent years. Finally we conclude that, if not to make any significant improvement, the plant will fall into a deep stagnation, wasting the opportunities this growing market it is providing, so the best solution is to perform the proposed investment in the alternative C which, with an investment of $180.000.000 gives an VAN of $7.579.475.960 with an TIR of 322%, indicators evaluated for a horizon of 15 years.
