Abstract
El presente estudio tiene como objetivo principal generar una propuesta de modificación de la planta de tratamiento de agua potable de la ciudad de Punta Arenas, con la finalidad de aumentar de manera eficiente y segura la capacidad de producción para un horizonte de diseño de veinte años.Las dos grandes particularidades del sistema de producción son: (1) el sistema se abastece por una multiplicidad de fuentes de distintas características y (2) la existencia de una planta de tratamiento fuera de servicio por más de veinte años y su posible rehabilitación e integración a las instalaciones de producción actualmente en operación.La planta de tratamiento en operación utiliza un sistema convencional de clarificación de agua, el que integra los procesos unitarios de coagulación, floculación, sedimentación, filtración y desinfección. A través de estos procedimientos se pretende remover los principales contaminantes del agua afluente que corresponden a la turbiedad, color, hierro y manganeso.En el estudio se aborda el diagnóstico de la operación actual, su optimización y la evaluación técnica y económica de las distintas alternativas de ampliación.
The main objective of this study is to generate a proposal to modify the drinking water treatment plant in the city of Punta Arenas, with the purpose of efficiently and safely increasing the production capacity for a design horizon of twenty years.The two main features of the production system are: (1) the system is supplied by a multiplicity of sources of different characteristics and (2) the existence of a treatment plant out of service for more than twenty years and its possible rehabilitation and integration to the production facilities currently in operation.The treatment plant in operation uses a conventional water clarification system, which integrates the unit processes of coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection. Through these procedures, it is intended to remove the main pollutants from the effluent water corresponding to turbidity, color, iron and manganese.The study addresses the diagnosis of the current operation, its optimization and the technical and economic evaluation of the different alternatives for expansion.
