Abstract
An structural analysis of radiata pine traditional and woodwork joints machined by a handling robot is carried out in the present investigation in order to establish a comparison between the different geometric settings. The procedure will consider two beams placed on three equidistantly columns incorporated by a scarf joint producing a 6-meter in total light. Two types of traditionally machined and two types of robotically manipulated joints will be studied. The proposed analysis will include an initial overload in the system according to Chilean wood construction regulation NCh 1185 [9]. The setting is geometrically positioned to the center of the joints off-set by a fifth of the light among columns (60 [cm]) and by a seventh (430 [cm]) in relation to the main beam. Through ANSYS software, beams Von Mises performance data is obtained along determining critical analysis zones. Finally by comparing the determined critical zones, it is defined that geometrical position by a fifth is the most adequate for the studied loads considering its load is lower in the joint. In regards of the joints, scarf joint 2 was determined as the most adequate as it presented an inferior load in the joint for both a fifth and a seventh positions compared to the other types of joints.
