Abstract
The development of the ERNC in Chile is a reality, impacting all the players inthe electricity market to a different extent. The ERNCs have caused effects onthe price of energy and also on the use of main transmission lines, additionaltransmission lines and sub transmission lines owned by Generators,Transmission Companies and Free Clients. Each technology has its niche to solve a specific problem, as well as eachtechnology has its limitations and fields of application. Currently in Chile there isan excess of intermittent energy from the photovoltaic systems, and the firststeps are being taken for the future implementation of the first PumpingHydroelectric Plant (Espejos de Tarapacá Project) in the north of the country.Given this scenario, it is necessary to analyze methodologies that allow to takeadvantage of photovoltaic energy and hydroelectric pumping stations, usingbusiness models that allow to maximize the economic benefits of bothtechnologies.Worldwide, the goal is to intensify the use of renewable energy, without a doubt, solar PV and wind will produce much more electricity in the future and will needto be stored, in other countries today is already done using the conventionalreversible plants, where Chile begins to take its first steps. These operating models, using technology and development, will also contributeto subtract the effects of climate change, where for example the mega projectsof northern Chile, will guarantee sustainability and development.
